USDA Process Verification Program (PVP)

Novecta has a working agreement with USDA to offer guidance and system implementation to agribusiness as part of their Process Verification Program (PVP), which is based on the ISO 9001:2000 quality management system.  The USDA recognizes the need for process-based systems rather than working solely with the product-based systems traditionally used in agriculture.  PVP is an effort to present a much more agriculturally user-friendly system that could be adopted by producers and agribusinesses.  This system differs from ISO 9001:2000 by allowing for “verification points” of a marketing claim.

  • Verification points must add value to the product or service.
  • Verification points must be substantive, verifiable and repeatable
  • Verification points must be within the scope of the PVP
  • Verification points cannot be practices that are required by law or a standard under which organizations in the same industry generally operate

Certified companies or producers can use the USDA Process Verified shield for marketing and promotion of their products.
