Best Management Practices (BMP)

Identity preservation (IP) is becoming more important in the world trade of agricultural crops that are enhanced genetically, grown under specific conditions, or contain specific characteristics which must be identified and maintained from seed planting through delivery of the grain to the end user.  In order to meet customer expectations, Novecta has created a library of best management practices for each step in the process.

Following best management practices for IP crop production provides assurance that the grain produced will meet customer expectations. Novecta offers training for grain producers and processors that can be delivered either by classroom or web based methods.

Novecta can provide recommended best management practices for all crop production activities including the following:

  • Purchase of designated seed
  • Seed purity
  • Genetic testing
  • Planting and related activities
  • Growing season activities
  • Harvesting activities
  • Storage and handling activities
  • Transportation
  • Conditioning and bagging
  • Processing
  • Sampling and testing
